Easy Does it Studio, Arlington, MA: Sign Language for Teachers

The Easy Does it Studio in Arlington, MA is nestled in the heart of town with municipal parking nearby. This wonderfully re-purposed storefront offers a great space for workshops. Developmental Teaching, LLC is proud to present deaf educator, KR Glickman in a content institute for early childhood teachers. This 4 week course is designed to meet the needs of preschool and kindergarten teachers in typical classrooms or in special needs classrooms. Please join us!

Nationally-acclaimed author and presenter, Tere Bowen-Irish, is presenting at Christ Church Preschool in South Hamilton..Learn about Tere's wholistic and 30 year practice of working with children in school settings and else where. Tere brings a sense of humor and a down to earth methodology with hundreds of ideas to help us help our kids be ready to learn!

Tere has co-authored the Plan Book for School Specialists. This is a plan book for folks who work with children one-on-one such as OT's, PT's, ELL instructors and more!

Help Students in this Test-Based Climate

Developmental Teaching, LLC is proud to offer workshops that give teachers the tools and knowledge they need to help all kinds of learners, especially in this season of MCAS or other high stakes tests. Lauri Weinstein and Tere Bowen-Irish are occupational therapists with extensive backgrounds in school-based environments. Look for new workshops coming soon on brain-based research and Brain Gym.
When you are finally over the test season, join Jan for a workshop called Plant a Seed and Read..This workshop is designed to integrate all of the curriculum areas but, most importantly, to get children outside in the gardens. Happy Spring Everyone!

Spring is nearly here and this year we are really looking forward to it. Developmental Teaching, LLC offering a workshop to spring into the season with Plant a Seed and Read. Books, garden tools, recyclable gardens and more will be shared on how to offer this natural curriculum in a developmentally appropriate way.
Tere Bowen-Irish is back on 5/7 with a workshop on working with children with ADD and ADHD from the perspective of an occupational therapist.

Lauri Weinstein at the Easy Does it Studio, Arlington, MA

Developmental Teaching, LLC has had a successful workshop with area early childhood and special needs teachers that helped us all think of how we move and what we take for granted. This workshop focused on our spatial awareness and utilized the teachings of the Feldenkrais Methods that are developmentally part of all of us. SOOOO interesting to learn about, experience and bring back to our teaching of young children. Lauri will be presenting more workshops in the coming months and the Legacy of Teaching Early Childhood Institute offered by the Play it Forward Giving Circle of Essex County Community Foundation.

It continues to snow and our first workshop of the season for Developmental Teaching, LLC is postponed due to the snow. Did you hear me say it is snowing again? It is difficult to comprehend where we will put the snow again!  However, this gives more opportunity for those of you who could not come tonight. The first of the series by Lauri Weinstein will begin on GROUND HOG'S DAY! Join us if you can.

Developmental Teaching, LLC is proud to announce that our new Plan Book for School Specialists is at the printers and ready for orders. This plan book is designed especially for the folks who work with children in schools in a one-to-one relationship such as occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech and language therapists, tutors, reading specialists and even ELL teachers. Tere Bowen-Irish has over 30 years in the field as an occupational therapist and has brought all that and more in this collaborative effort to help make the lives of school specialists easier. Tere is presenting a workshop on Saturday, 1/29 at Notre Dame Children's Class in Wenham where the books will be ready!!!

2011 Here we Come!

Please follow this blog and learn about the new workshops for the new year! Lauri Weinstein and Tere Bowen-Irish are both experienced occupational therapists who do a great deal of their respective practices in school settings. Most early childhood educators or elementary educators have had very little exposure to the world of occupational therapy. Often a simple strategy, shift in some way or another can make a world of difference to how a child feels and learns. Developmental Teaching, LLC is aware of these nuances that exist in the worlds of education and occupational therapy and it is our hope to help all of us learn how to help children learn and develop.
